The Year Of Drawing Adventurously – Week 8: Your Name

Following the chart to 52 weeks of drawings this year.

My first thought was to do a piece of graffiti art for this week’s prompt, drawing Meg in big, blocked letters and adding some embellishments to it. But then I had another idea: to draw the subject of the meaning of my name. Meg is short for Margaret, which is derived from the Greek Margarites, which is from the noun margaron which means ‘pearl‘. And so I give you a pearl, still in its shell:

    1. Haha! No you’re not! It’s really interesting. Western culture has lost touch with the meaning of our names. In Asian cultures they select names very carefully because of their meaning. So it’s kind of cool to find out what your name means. 😃

  1. That’s lovely and very creative! My favorite funny name episode on tv — well, yes, Seinfeld, but Designing Women where they go to some retreat and these weird mountain men intimidated them. One talks about the name tag his daughter had on her at the hospital and he pronounces it Famali. But it was female! It still makes me snicker…
