To Young Love

With dreamy idleness and wanderlust
With joy and sheer delight
Describes a noble and courtly love
Descended from the heights

Like my beloved Yeats, as a young man
Seeking his unattainable Muse
But this love is within his tender grasp
This clever girl whom he would choose

With the strength of love that inspires art
So enchanting is his attendance
With warmth in my heart I bear witness
To the blossoming of his love’s resplendence

This is for my friend M.  It indeed is a joy to watch someone find true love…

Taste – a limerick

I know it’s a matter of taste
But to me, it seems such a waste
To ruin perfectly good coffee
On a pumpkin spiced latte
And an espresso roast thus disgrace

In response to Mind and Life Matters Limerick Poetry Challenge. The prompt is ‘taste’ and I couldn’t resist poking fun at the ‘pumpkin spice’ everything that appears this time of year. Save the pumpkin for pies, people!

Life stories – Six by six words

Existence, subsistence means life without pulchritude

Pulchritude injects joy into routine monotony

Monotony suppresses dreams of future happiness

Life devoid of dreams becomes bitter

Bitterness begets hopelessness, capitulation and futility

Only love can save the day.
