My buddy Phil at The Phil Factor has asked everyone to join in a fun challenge/conversation about the musical artists we’ve seen play live. I’ve got my list below. And to be honest, I may forgotten some thanks to losing some brain cells over the years. Some of these bands, I’ve seen multiple times. There are plenty of musicians I wish I’d seen before they made their final bow, and there are plenty more I hope to see before time is up. To see the other participants’ lists visit Phil’s post here. The links will be in the comments.

Doc!!! I had no idea you were a Dead Head!!! How’d I not know that? I’ve seen them the most of any other. I have You by about 35 or so on that one. I’m not sure I could do this challenge. I’m guessing my live show number to be nearing 1,000. Or more. I’d have to really wrack my brain to recall them all. And said brain is unreliable. 😃

Haha! Yep! I thought you knew that?!? H isn’t much of a concert goer so my attendance at live shows dropped off significantly after we got together. I do have a couple friends I can tag along with though. Last big show was Roger Waters, last small show was Steve Earle! 😃

Love both! I’ve seen Steve multiple times. He was a friend of a family friend who was a musician himself. He’s such a cool dude, and fantastic live. 😃

That’s so cool! He’s a lot of fun live. Like hanging out in his living room while he plays and tells stories!

Yep. I love shows like that. I just don’t do many, if any, big arena shows anymore. Much better seeing shows in intimate venues. 😊

I like that, too. It’s so hard to get tickets to big venues, too. And super expensive if you can get them!

Oh man, the prices are outrageous! I remember seeing groups like Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, etc. For like $10 back in the day. Iconic bands. For $10! Now, going to see some crappy one-hit wonder costs $130. It’s ridiculous.

For real! I guess the artists have to make up for lost revenue through streaming. Although I’m sure somebody is lining their pockets at the expense of others. 😦

You know, you’re probably exactly right. What I hate is when an iconic band does the “For the final tour” thing…then they’re back out on tour 18 months later. Even the remaining Dead members pulled that shit two summers ago. I remember paying like $300 bucks for J and I to see the Eagles like 15 years ago, because it supposed to be their last tour ever. Bullshit! They’ve toured like 4 times since!!! Argh. They got me on that one. 😠

I know! Hell Freezes Over indeed! My friend Lori and I were going to go and we talked ourselves out of it. Although now that Glenn Fry is dead… but I see they’re touring again this year with James Taylor! Come on!

See?!? Money grab. But, I suppose I’d do it too if people keep paying. I’ve seen them, with Glenn Fry. I don’t need to now. I won’t be seeing Dead & Co. any time soon either. John Mayer?!? Nope. 😏

Right! Right now I can’t think of anyone I’m just ‘dying’ to see. I’ll have to keep an eye out for something local and small!

Yep. I think just means we’re old now though. 😃

Wow! What a great list! I wish I had seen some more of the ones on your list! I missed 21 Pilots last year when I had tickets!

There is no way I could make a list. I would forget so many. But I only have the more alternative artists in common with you… Someof those aren’t appealing to me at all… like way off from my musical taste. But we do have the alt stuff in common. I think there are only about 10 up there that I’ve also seen… but plus a bunch of others that aren’t up there. And although not so alternative, by far my favorite live shows were John Mayer shows (I have been to… 5 or 6? I forget). He is just amazing live. Better than studio-recorded. Don’t feel too bad about Katy Perry (although I hate her)… I’ve seen *NSYNC twice…

Hahaha! My musical taste is all over the place depending on my mood. Katy Perry was … I actually can’t remember how I got talked into that one. I might have been the oldest person in the audience! 🤪 I believe that about John Mayer – we’ve watched a recorded concert on TV. I can only imagine how great he’d be live!
