The Year Of Drawing Adventurously – Week 14: Brand New

Following the chart to 52 drawings this year.

“Brand new” is another wide open concept. I decided to draw daffodils –I’ve seen the flowers featured prominently on the photography blogs I follow and as they are the harbingers of the ‘new’ season, thought they were a cheerful subject for the theme. Hmmm. They look a little menacing, actually. Well, maybe if spring would cooperate, already!! Here are my ‘brand new’ (slightly sinister) blooms:

  1. That is a good imaginative theme! I find from the comments that winter refuses to leave your place. In India, where i live, spring comes in march and by april, it is quite sunny and hot!

    1. Our weather has been unusually cold for this time of year. We should have buds on the trees and flowers blooming by now and instead we’re still getting cold and snow! Everyone is so tired of it! Sunny and warm sounds wonderful!

    1. Ours never even got the chance! They’re just now beginning to bloom and there’s a chance of snow sleet and frozen mix tomorrow! I am so done!!!

  2. Sinister blooms, haha… you do know that those are tiny little microphones in the middle of each one?

Actually, in this day and age when most phones are listening to every word and being monitored you’d think the government would decommission these spy-flowers.

  3. Meg, your slightly sinister daffodils are fabulous. I do feel as though the large one is looking right at me, maybe there’s a story there. I think the thing that’s incredibly creative about this drawing is that it tricks the brain. Daffodils are such a vibrant color, yet here we view them in black and white, but we can’t deny that we’re thinking yellow! So good, Meg!!!
