Following the chart to 52 drawings this year.
Wow, I can’t believe the year has almost gone. These final two themes are the same as the first two: a self portrait and a subject of your own choice. Presumably, the idea is to see how well you improved over the course of the year. And maybe to see if you look a little different from the way you did as the year began. The biggest difference in my appearance is that I cut my hair shorter this summer. I copied the photo I used on my Welcome Page. But I’ll leave it to you to decide whether my skills have improved in 50 weeks. Here is my self portrait:
Nice. I’d say improved a little…you are already good at your craft.

Aw, thanks, Darnell! I think in the coming year, I will draw fewer pieces and spend more time on each one. 😃

Everything depends on just doing it — and you did! Carry on drawing, learning and having fun. Pat yourself on the back, Meg.

I think you changed your eyebrows a little, as well as cutting your hair a little shorter, and you have a bigger smile, brought on, no doubt, by the relief of having made all the difficult decisions this year! There I go again, trying to analyse too much, rather than just commenting how well your drawing has progressed. Happy Christmas to you and yours Meg.

Well done, Meg! I have definitely watched your skills growing over the year. Good for you, sticking with it. That is an accomplishment in itself!

Wow you look different in the new hairstyle! But have you lost weight or is it my imagination? The face looks longer and leaner but the sketch is great, as always, with the shading, depth et al. Wish you and your family a merry and joyous Christmas ! Enjoy and get ready to celebrate the new year!

Well done for your perseverance, it can be easy to let the drawing slide for any number of reasons – it’s well worth sticking with as the core of any artistic adventure 👍🏻

Thanks, Steve! I think my approach for next year is fewer drawings, more time spent on each one. I rushed through too many of these. Nevertheless, it was a fun challenge and I do feel like I improved in some areas!

I had earlier commented on your portrait Meg but it seems to have vanished into the cyber space! Anyway, what i wrote was that there is some change in your face from the earlier portrait. Your changed hairstyle is obvious but i do think you have lost some weight as your fsce is leaner and longer. Or is it my imagination? But the sketch is good as always and i love the shading and the texture of hair! Only one more to go, and what are we going to do in the next year? Any ideas Meg?

I may have lost a little weight from the last portrait. Getting my exercise regimen back on track! 😀 I do want to draw regularly next year but I think maybe I’ll come up with a prompt that we can work on over two weeks instead of just one. How does that sound? For an option, in the week between we can either show a photo of the subject we’re drawing OR show our progress so far. What do you think?

Of course Meg! That sounds great. Once in two weeks will be better as then we do not have to rush and can finish the sketch taking our time! Besides, we can catch up on other pending work on the ome front as well. By the way, when do you plan to move to Ireland? Found a house of your liking yet?

Great, I’m glad you agree! We move to Ireland in June, so things will be busy for the next few months. We are going once in March to have a look for a place to live!
