Through steep and narrow paths I forge
Where glacier carved the river gorge
The wind in the forest whispers her name
Woodland creatures praise her fame
While sunlight trickles through the branches
Mountain Mama sits on her haunches
Washed with rain and in torrent bathed
Her overflow begets a cascade
To quench the forest’s eager thirst
To green the foliage, flowers burst
And where leaves and logs in forest lay
She wears the perfume of loamy decay
When sunset yields to purple twilight
Emerge the winged creatures of night
Over moonlit treetops, bat wings flutter
Gently honor Earth, their mother
Before the purple fades on the end of day
I bid Mama goodnight and go on my way
The Smoky Mountains are having the desired effect…. Nothing can replace immersion in nature for restoring your energy and draining off the stress.
It sounds wonderful… I’m so jealous — I need a vacation! π

It’s pretty cool! We are staring at forest and mountain as far as the eye can see. Met up with Kevin today and lived to tell! Lol! I’m limited to AT&T LTE for Internet connection so I’ll be testing the limits of the WordPress app this week.

Haha! Good luck with the internet situation. Glad Kevin wasn’t a serial killer. Have lots of fun and relaxation for me! (Too bad that doesn’t actually work!)

Yes! Asheville isn’t that big of a place. When are you going to be here? I’d love to meet up for a drink or something, if you’re up for it. Biltmore is a TON of walking!!

We were thinking Wednesday. Friends of ours recommended The Wicked Weed… Want to have a beer with us?!? π

Ah – Wicked Weed is amazing! Definitely some of the best / most unique beers locally. They have the BEST saisons I’ve tasted. Food is also very nice, sort of *fancy* pub food.
I’d love to, but it would depend on when…my husband has a non-typical work schedule. You can shoot me an e-mail: countingsheep@bellsouth.net!

Thank you, glad you enjoyed! I am fortunate to have nature to escape to despite being close to a major city. Best of both worlds. π
