Weekly quote.  I’m calling it: I couldn’t have said it better.

“Comparison is the thief of joy.”  -Theodore Roosevelt

Isn’t that the stinking truth?  Do you compare yourelf to the people around you?  To celebrities?  To the people who excel in your field?  Stop it!  Right now! It’s self defeating.  Compare yourself to yourself.  Are you making progress?  How’s that project coming along?  You’re better at your craft than you were last year, right?  I know you are!  So take pride in your achievemnents and forget about everybody else.  Have some joy!  It’s free!

New feature: Weekly quote

I love quotes!  I hope you do too because every Monday morning, I’m going to post something to get the week off to a good start.  That’s not to say these will all be inspirational quotes, no indeed.  Some of the best quotes are ones that are thought provoking, challenging and maybe even a little controversial.  If possible, I’ll try to give some background and context to the quote I’ve posted.  Here’s the first one:

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life.  When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.  I wrote down ‘happy’.  They told me I didn’t understand the assignment and I told them they didn’t understand life.”  -John Lennon
