The Year Of Drawing Adventurously – Week 22: Family Portrait

Following the chart to 52 drawings this year.

This week was difficult in oh so many ways… It was full of upheaval – we are dealing with a major household repair which has my backyard destroyed. And there are some things happening on a personal level that have me anxious and off kilter. The amount of time I wanted to devote to creating a family portrait just wasn’t there. However, I have something to post this week, a series of geometric figures I created using my late father-in-law’s drafting tools. The figures are some of the most calming and soothing things I draw. And though they aren’t a family portrait, there is a family connection.

    1. Thanks, Rita. The worst of the household stuff is dealt with at least! Somehow it feels like everything piles on at once. I can better handle the other stuff without that hanging over my head too! 🤯

    1. Thank you! And I appreciate that… it just always seems to pile on all at once. I’ll be able to deal better with the personal stuff now that the water emergency is mostly dealt with. Now the yard is just ugly!

      1. Long story… but we may be moving far enough away that I’d have to start over and at this point, I’m just not up for it. I’m not making a real income from writing yet, but I’ll keep at it no matter what I end up doing for income!

  1. These are like mandala drawings or what we call ‘rangolis’ in india which we draw on festivsls like diwali and dusshera! Lovely. Hope by next week, things are sorted out at your end.☺

    1. Thank you! I love mandala drawings – they’re so intricate! Things have calmed down a little but I’ll be dealing with some major household projects for a while yet… 😕

  2. Lovely drawings. My one brother was a craftsman then an air traffic controller and now back doing Auto Cad. You may be in for some major upheavals, hmm? My friend Christi at Feeding on Folly, is moving from Phoenix to Minnesota because her hubby is taking a new position. Talk about weather shock!
