I’ve got a particular fondness for poppies, not just for their connection to the Great War. They’ve become a favorite subject to recreate in my artwork. Here they are in pencil, ink brush and paint:
Hahaha! Yeah, J and I find those types of things at flea markets all the time. We refer to them as art projects gone wrong. I doubt yours will fall into the category. 😃
Thank you! That one is Poppies In No Man’s Land. It’s the first painting I ‘sold’ (actually ended up giving it to the person who wanted to buy it) and made a second version for myself to keep. I hope your day is going well!💗
You’re welcome, Meg. Great title for the painting. Odd and interesting feelings when you start to part with your artwork, well that’s how I feel anyway, maybe it’s bittersweet. Thank you. 💗
Thank you! Flowers and trees are all I feel semi capable of doing in the ink brush. I am practicing with other subjects – they’re too awful to post however! 😂
Great work, Meg. I always think the vivid blood red of the poppy against a monochrome background is particularly impactive, and aptly symbolic x
(Having said that, the fifth one is my favourite too!)
All are great, but the 5th On is my fave. Great job, Doc. 😊

I love number 5. It reminds me of a virtual trip (via Street View) I did through France. Several times I came across fields of poppies.
