The Year Of Drawing Adventurously – Week 21: Bird

In mid to late May, the Baltimore Orioles return to Southeastern Pennsylvania. Their song is my favorite of all the birds. They are very shy, so I rarely see them, but their double noted trill is distinct. Early in the morning, with the sun just peeking through the trees, you can hear them calling to each other. Here is my Baltimore Oriole done in colored pencil so as to show off the bright orange markings:

      1. Rained all day here off and on. Still got a couple runs in today though, and 3 yesterday. Lightning is here now, so off the water, but the outdoor center is working just fine at the moment. 🙂

  1. The head looks like a crow’s , and the tail is spectacular ( i opened the image and zoomed it) the bright orange really brings our the beauty of the bird. Super!

    1. I used light pressure so it wouldn’t get streaky and colored in small sections at a time. I used a cotton ball to go over it at the end to blend any spots that seemed uneven. 🙂
