Painting (14) Lone Gull

One cool thing about teaching yourself to paint with acrylics is that you can reuse already painted on canvases. That means each time you try something that doesn’t turn out so good, the canvas is not wasted. Trust me, you will waste a lot of canvases in the beginning. A few weeks back, my talented photographer friend, Son of a Beach posted a photo of a lone gull in the sunset and I just knew I wanted to try to paint it. I had just the thing… one of my very first attempts was full of all the colors I would be using for the new painting so no worries about bleeding through. Here’s the result:

      1. I hear ya’. Diversification of the creativity portfolio. I tried to do that for Sandra too, by dragging her into that photo challenge. Putting all the eggs in one basket can lead to droughts. 😃

      2. I think a lot of creative people have multiple talents. Maybe not equally proficient in each one, but good enough to enjoy changing it up once in a while!

      2. Maybe…. but a canvas could be rolled so maybe heavy paper would roll too. I should mess around with one of my sketch pads and I’ll let you know.

    1. Thank you! It’s really fun. I don’t know how proficient I’ll get. I haven’t tried anything too complicated yet. I’ll just call it Abstract Impressionism when it doesn’t end up looking the way it’s supposed to! 😜

      2. Oh I can imagine! Figure drawing is hard enough, painting must be way more difficult. I’m just painting happy little trees! 🧔🏻
