Following the chart to 52 weeks of drawings this year.
My first thought was to do a piece of graffiti art for this week’s prompt, drawing Meg in big, blocked letters and adding some embellishments to it. But then I had another idea: to draw the subject of the meaning of my name. Meg is short for Margaret, which is derived from the Greek Margarites, which is from the noun margaron which means ‘pearl‘. And so I give you a pearl, still in its shell:
What beautiful pencil drawings you do and how lucky we are to share in them.

What’s this? Meg coming out of her shell? I thought you did that some time ago!

Haha! Yes, sometimes I crawl back in, I guess!

Love It! But, now I’m craving a dozen On The half shell…and a couple of Fat Tires. 😃

Lovely! What a beautiful drawing! And thank you for the backstory on the name Margaret. I didn’t know. I have a sister, Maggie.

Thank you! So Maggie is a ‘pearl’ too! 😃

Loved reading the origin of your names. Sometimes I do that entertain myself reading name and words origins, God, I am such a freaking nerd.

Haha! No you’re not! It’s really interesting. Western culture has lost touch with the meaning of our names. In Asian cultures they select names very carefully because of their meaning. So it’s kind of cool to find out what your name means. 😃

Now people invent names. I agree with you on westerners losing touch with meanings of names.

Thanks! I couldn’t get into the graffiti drawing and believe me I tried! And I’m not good at calligraphy so that was a nonstarter as well. 😜

Wonderful drawing, Meg! I love your thought process on this and how you arrived at the pearl still in its shell. Great flow! Please enjoy the rest of your Sunday. 💗

That’s lovely and very creative! My favorite funny name episode on tv — well, yes, Seinfeld, but Designing Women where they go to some retreat and these weird mountain men intimidated them. One talks about the name tag his daughter had on her at the hospital and he pronounces it Famali. But it was female! It still makes me snicker…

Ah! That is funny! There used to be a joke about the couple who had twins and wanted to name the little girl Denise so they named the boy twin … Denephew. Wah wah!
