Following the chart to 52 drawings this year. The profile of Mata Hari (Margaretha Geertruida MacLeod nee Zelle)
As most of you know, I’m in the process of writing a historical novel set partly during World War One. In the course of my research of The Great War, I read all sorts of fascinating stories –some of which will help me write the time period accurately. Other bits of information won’t really help with the writing but they’re just too interesting not to keep reading. You see why this book is taking so long? I keep wandering off the main path onto the side roads and getting lost! The story of Mata Hari is one such detour. However, not only is her story interesting (coming later this week) but her profile was a real challenge to sketch.
I think you’ve done an amazing job here Meg and I have fallen in love with her all over again!

It was The Spy by Paul Coelho. Here is the link to my review of it and some newspaper articles on her! https://goo.gl/ac9bb9

So, are y’all prepared for the riot if the Eagles win tonight? Hunker down, man. 😜

Seriously! They will riot no matter the outcome I think! At least if we win it will be joyful rioting!😜

I think you got her spot on…so her last name was Macleod. Was her husband Scottish?

Yes. Partly. He was a Dutch army officer but of Scottish descent. And thank you! 🙏

That was a great drawing! Now, I want to watch the anime Read Or Die again since one of the characters was cloned from Mata Hati in that series.

You’re too kind. I’m finding a good balance now with setting up a second site. The old one got suspended for the images being too graphic. So I’m being careful now.
