The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Meg

Here we are on the last day of November. For those tired souls who participated in National Novel Writing Month – congratulations! It’s over! I did not participate this year, but instead set the goal of revising my completed manuscript for publication. I am not sure what happened to my time this month, but I’m sorry to say that I barely even made a dent in the job. Besides the introductory section I posted recently, I have accomplished absolutely nothing!

Nevertheless, I am still going to attempt to finish so as to publish before the year is out. If it seems a little quiet around here, you’ll know why. I’ll be in the subterranean lair, feverishly editing away…

  1. We may be mellowing with age, but fact remains what we used to be able to do in a short space of time almost always takes longer in reality. John Lennon said it best “Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans”.

  2. What a lovely work space!

I did not enter NaNoWriMo this year either. I was hoping to revise a novel, but even that wasn’t going to happen. So I set a goal to finish a novelette, but that was not going to work, either. I decided to cut myself some slack and not set a writing goal. I dropped into my NaNo site to check in on and encourage my Writing Buddies instead. Tonight I wrote the final Words in the Dark post of Nov. 2017, with NaNo wrapping up for another year.

    1. That’s great! I should have set myself a smaller goal. The further into November I got without having made any significant progress made me throw up my hands in defeat! And then I got nothing done at all! My new goal is to revise a chapter a day. I think that’s doable and it doesn’t put me on a dated deadline. 😜
