Do I fear or morbidly dread
Those nagging voices in my head
That tear at my confidence
Prick and berate my conscience
Till my self assurance has all but fled
I love limericks! “Voices nag in my head / and fill me with fear and dread; / and when I’m asleep / their vigil they keep: / dark nightmares make me wriggle in bed.”
Try your best not to bite
When those voices are fearful with fright
Line them up by the walls
To kick them in the balls
And tell them to quit with that shite!
Poco a poco … bit by bit … and when you’re ready. Until then, take it easy and breathe deep. Icy rain here and lots without power. We’re surviving so far. Some of the birch trees are touching their toes. Wish I could.
I do hope so. We don’t want you sitting in the writer’s ditch. I need volumes 5 & 6 of Buck’s County … it’s my La-la-land. A glass of port and even Corrie slips by.
You do sound chirpy .. so pleased for you, Meg. Keep it going well .. you rock, you do. NB Do a recipe for rock cakes soon … !!! … I bet you’re an expert.
A rock cake? I will have to research. I do feel better. I really bottomed out early this afternoon. But then the clouds parted literally and figuratively!
It’s so easy to hit “rock cake bottom”. Your family and friends will help pull you out though. We’re still surviving. Fingers crossed and high hopes. But if we do lose power, I’ll finish your book.
Captured the feeling perfectly!

Thanks, Dee. I suppose everyone has a little voice that makes them question themselves. Hope your week is off to a good start. Feeling ok?

Hey man, look out the window. What do you see? Pretty? Then tell that voice to shut up. You’re on a break. 😃

Fear does attack one’s self-assurance perhaps more often than is necessary to avoid problems.
