Writer’s Words

That photo is of WB Yeats’ desk at Thoor Ballylee.

I’ve had a difficult week. I’ve been under a lot of pressure both personally and professionally (and when I say professionally, I mean my writing).  The weekend is bringing some positivity, by way of my dear friends and some much needed fun and games. Neverthelesss, my WIP is never far from my mind. The next week I hope to have the fog lifted, the cobwebs cleared and the Muse whispering to me again. (Hear that James? I’m counting on you…)

In the meantime, when I can’t write, I sometimes read about writing and writers. I found these quotes in my travels and figured I’d share. Profound truths in an economy of words:

      1. My pleasure! 🙂 I tried to access this post yesterday through Twitter, but it wouldn’t let me. I ended up reading a different post. 🙂

  1. I meditate, go to yoga class, light candles, get a massage, and go fishing. Then as soon as I am in the middle of one of those endeavors, or going to the bathroom, bam! That is when a story comes full blown and I have no way of writing it down. Good luck in clearing the block!

    1. That is the kind of thing that happens to me as well. My best ideas wake me up in the middle of the night and if I don’t crawl out of bed to write them down… they are lost forever! Thanks for your thoughts!

    1. Yes, I hear you. My personal life is a little bit of a mess at the moment. Has me off balance. Some of the time I bleed it onto the page, this time I can’t seem to express myself. I’m glad to have some older pieces to share. I’m sorry you’re going through a rough patch. And I hope the medications can be adjusted… that especially must be frustrating: to know its an external cause. Better days ahead, my friend.

  2. Hey Meg. My muse went AWOL and this quote inspired a piece I am submitting as a supernatural fiction piece for my MA
It saved my life. Well, my mind and mood 😀 xxxx

    1. Ack! What an ugly win. They moved the ball but couldn’t close the deal. That play where they got to the five yard line? Ugh! Credit to KC for playing a tough game. But seriously? Field goals? Yeesh… I’m not optimistic for NE

      1. Indeed credit to KC for not folding when Bell was getting five yards a carry before anyone was even touching him. It looked early on like ol’ Andy Reid might get run out of his own building. Some of the play calling as they got in scoring position was a bit questionable which of course led to the field goal outburst. NE is a different opponent and presents different challenges…but opportunities as well. Stay optimistic (at least until I decide if they’re going to win or not!). 🙂

      2. I’m not throwing in the terrible towel yet! It could be a Packers – Steelers rematch in the Super Bowl! You do think the Pack is going to win, right? The Falcons are kind of a surprise, though. I’ll dig out my Clay Matthews jersey if the Steelers go down!
